This is finally done: a more concise description of demon summoning. This kind of handbook would probably have been given out to all the military cadet mages. For further reading:
I am fondly known by my friends as “that guy who’s obsessed with crafting and also Ishgard”, so I’m ecstatic about getting to enjoy both those things in Shadowbringers. And I’ve been hearing a lot of my friends excited about the latter wanting to catch up with the former so they’re ready to participate! I love crafting so much I’ve capped classes on 4 alts… so having leveled multiple times, I thought I’d share some of my thoughts and tips – not a detailed how-to guide (though maybe I’ll try to write one of those someday), but broader opinions about what strategies to take. This is geared more to DoH than DoL (which is more self-explanatory IMO) but I’ll include thoughts on DoL too.
I learned how to craft back in the 2.5 era from GameFAQs and from ffxivguild – though I can’t easily recommend the latter anymore because their ads and autoplay videos have gotten really aggressive. If I find a good, current guide I’ll add a link here.
TBH, after thinking it over, I’m completely on board with “limited jobs.” I personally really enjoy the “small” content in MMOs. Not all of us have time to fiddle around with 7+ other player’s schedules, and if census data is believed, most of the player base doesn’t either. I’d really like to see more content like the Monster Hunter crossover, more “difficult” 4-man content.
Yoshi P wanted to make sure Blue Mage felt consistent with its legacy, and didn’t want to water it down so it could fit into progression content. It’s the only way he felt comfortable with implementing the class. It’s side content you can accomplish casually on a small scale or by yourself. I don’t see any down sides to that.
Atlan Lanning heard the door open before he
recognized the voice, and upon realizing who was there he made a not-so-valiant
effort at trying not to cringe behind the curtain. Atlan groaned. Daijiro would
have his head if he didn’t do his job properly, so he stepped out into view to
greet their guest. “…Lebeaux,” he bowed politely to the man.
“What can I do for you?”
Lebeaux Desrosiers tilted his head slightly as it
wasn’t Kareem who passed through the curtain, but rather another familiar face.
“Ah! The Dhavhas’ pet.” He declared as he reached up to remove his hat and held
it out to the other, expecting him to hang it up for him. “Are your masters
about, by any chance. It would be fortunate to have an opportunity to speak
with either of them. A cup of tea as well. Hmm, Atlan, if I recall correctly?”
