I understand why people love their mods. They are really cool and the vast majority of folks are using them for awesome shit. I have reblogged screenshots of ones I liked a lot. Honestly, I don’t mind people using 90% of them at all.

But the variations on “It’s just pixels.” / “It’s client-side only.” / “You are not your character, so talking about consent is silly and extreme.” are real fucking tiresome.

@berrodtherapscallion talked about how he was sent an unsolicited picture of his character in the modded shisui set with his dick out.

Another player talked about how someone snuck into their house while they were afk, and took a screenshot of a dick shoved in their character’s face for fun and then sent it.

Another player was sent a screenshot of a dick in their face AND their character in a modded outfit so their character had their tits out.

Another player is literally hiding from people right now, because they had a screenshot of their character in modded glamour sent to them and are jarred by the thought of some stranger taking another.

Its okay to love your mods and its even okay to feel worried they might get taken away. But trying to tell people they don’t deserve to feel annoyed or unnerved by all of this, because you are afraid their feelings will cause your mods to go away is kind of shit.

Our characters might be made of polygons and code, but there are real people behind them. And as much as it sucks that all mods might go poof over the actions of a small number of nasty perverts, maybe “stop being so uncomfortable and upset about the perverts doing creepy shit to your character via mods, because I really want to keep mine” is not the greatest response.

((i do not get any of these arguments, because sending someone an unsolicited sexually explicit picture is sexual harassment regardless of what’s like, actually in the picture. bombarding someone with dick pics is shitty regardless of whether or not its literally a picture of your personal dick

i’ll go one step further and say that i genuinely don’t care if there’s some collateral damage in the event that people catch bans. i don’t actually think that it’s likely anyone will, honestly, and i know that there are many talented modders out there, but on the scale of feelings i care about, people wanting to see a longer tail when they look at their lizard-girl in game just does not rank. i would feel bad for the actual modders whose hard work would be negated, but modding a continually updated game is always a crapshoot even when its not against TOS. 

if there’s any backlash against cosmetic mods, the blame goes to the creepy douchebags, not the people who were upset by their harrassment

i dont care about mod use, personally, and i’m obvs 100% in favor of people ERPing whatever they want, drawing/editing nsfw fanart/screenshots, making mods that give their character colossal horse cocks, RPing or writing whatever fucked up crap they want, but i have no patience with people being pieces of shit and it’s ridiculous that actual people i know and care about are having to worry about what they wear in a video game because it might prompt someone to flood their inbox with afk boner pics. like, come on.

More of a whole ensemble, really, this was an early gift from @saerdha to slowly introduce Rin to the concept of nice clothes. Well made without being TOO ostentatious, warm, comfortable, and perfectly tailored for the needs of an arcanist in the field – plus, Rin looks pretty good in it.

Rin usually sleeps in a light robe, on the occasions that he actually manages to fall asleep in a bed and not at his desk or on the floor of his office…I swear to god there isn’t anything robe-like in the entire game that doesn’t feature a belt so you’ll have to use your imagination I guess. 

The closer you came to that ancient wall of white stone that loomed over the swamp and spread its strange miasma over the land like fog, the deeper you were into the forbidden land. There, the trees grew twisted and bare of leaves, fruit sprouted from hanging vines already rotted and squirming with maggots, and strange fungi spread their tendrils over every inch of rock and dirt. There, beasts died of the choking spores but could not rest – when their limbs decayed out from underneath them, still their eyes would roll restlessly in their sockets and their jaws snap as they lay there, immobile, until their bones were dust.

That land had a name, but to speak it aloud was to blight your own tongue. To tread upon its ground, to overturn its stones and delve its secrets, that was damnation eternal. 

But what’s damnation to an outcast whose strange dreams – a city of soaring spires, the beat of black wings, a door that opens onto darkness – always lead him deeper into the forest’s tainted heart?

For the Screenshot Meme, @ibishigo​ sent me: “Send 👘 to see them in an outfit traditional to their culture” ! There’s not actually a lot in the game that corresponds to how I imagine super traditional Moonkeeper clothing, so this outfit is kind of a mix of like…ceremonial garb and something you might see on a current non-Gridanian Moonkeeper NPC, post-Cataclysm and all. Not featured in this screenshot but it also includes super thick, metal-reinforced hide boots to protect your lower extremities from biting river eels, leeches the size of your head, and other beasties that one might encounter while sloshing through the South Shroud wetlands.

If circumstances had been different, I think Rin might have had a fulfilling career ahead of him as a weird swamp hermit

ok but mechanics aside, botany and necromancy go really well together

the non-sentience of plants augments the non-sentience of classical undead. the addition of plant matter answers the classic question of ‘how do skeletons move without muscles?” well, the same way that carnivorous plants move and digest animals without them

there’s all the inspiration you can take from the natural world, with plants breaking down rotting matter into soil, and of course the infamous cordyceps fungus that has become popular in modern zombie media 

plants, fungi, and slime molds are such varied and incredible organisms. fantasy monsters honestly have NOTHING on real life sometimes
